they are not the same thing, and confusing them can cost you.
Metal reclamation takes a different approach: it preserves the
original component. Instead of destroying and remanufacturing, reclamation
restores the existing part through targeted repair and refurbishment,
debonding, denuding, machining, recoating, and refinishing.
Cost savings are immediate. Manufacturing new components
requires raw material sourcing, fabrication, labor, and transport. Reclamation
uses the component you already have as the foundation. Companies routinely save
40–70% compared to full replacement.
Environmentally, the gap is even wider. Every new component
embodies significant carbon from extraction to delivery. Reclamation avoids
most of that footprint by keeping the existing material in service.
